The AI phone agent for car dealerships: service and after-hours sales
Last updated October 18, 2026
An AI phone agent for car dealerships, in this product, is two agents and one desk. Riley answers service calls 24/7, in English and Spanish, and books into Xtime. Casey answers after-hours and overflow sales calls from your vAuto inventory. Your own staff take the calls that need a person, on the BDC desk in the same product.
Who this is for
People searching for an AI phone agent, an AI receptionist, or an AI agent for car dealerships are usually comparison shopping. The phrases show up together because the category is still loose. A receptionist that takes a name and a number, a service scheduler that writes Xtime, and a sales agent that knows the lot are three different jobs. A page that blurs them makes the demo harder than it needs to be.
DealersThink splits them on purpose. Riley is the service line. Casey is the sales line after hours and when sales is already on another call. The BDC desk is the store’s coordinators. Certified CDK and Xtime integrations sit under Riley: Xtime for the appointment, CDK for customer, vehicle, and repair-order history. Casey works from your vAuto inventory. She does not book service, and Riley does not quote the lot.
How it works
- Service rings Riley. She answers 24/7, in English and Spanish, and books, moves, or cancels in Xtime when the request is a service the menu can take.
- Sales after hours rings Casey. She answers from the nightly vAuto report. Wholesale units on that report are not offered. Leads go to the address your store sets for its CRM.
- A person is one transfer away. Either agent can hand the caller to the BDC desk. The desk is your staff, not a separate call center you log into somewhere else.
Receptionist, or an agent that books
An AI receptionist for a car dealership is often sold as “someone always picks up.” Picking up is the start. The service guest called to get on the schedule. If the agent can only take a message, the store still has a morning queue, and the guest still has no appointment. Riley’s job on the service line is the appointment in Xtime: book it, move it, or cancel it. The message path is the fallback, used when she should not book, not the product.
The sales guest called to ask what you have. Casey’s job is the inventory you already manage in vAuto, read from the nightly report, with wholesale left out. She is not a certified vAuto integration. The honest line is the short one: she works from your vAuto inventory.
Callers can ask for a person. The handoff is to your desk. This page does not publish a scripted line for how Riley introduces herself, and it does not publish a legal opinion on TCPA or call recording. Both belong in the demo, with language your stores can stand behind.
What to compare while you shop
The useful comparison is not a logo wall. It is five questions. Does the service appointment land in Xtime, including a move and a cancel? Is the CDK connection certified, and does it show customer, vehicle, and repair-order history to the person who takes the next call? Can each store turn Spanish on, and does the call switch when the caller asks? Is there a human desk in the same product? Does after-hours sales read your inventory, or a generic list?
We wrote a sourced comparison of the vendors dealers ask about, and we said on that page that we wrote it. DealersThink is one row. Where a vendor’s own site does not state a fact, the cell says so. Pricing is not part of the comparison. It depends on rooftops and products.
What it connects to
Certified CDK and Xtime integrations · vAuto inventory (Casey). Riley books, moves, and cancels in Xtime. The CDK integration reads customer, vehicle, and repair-order history for caller lookup and for BDC Customers. Casey works from your vAuto inventory on after-hours and overflow sales calls. vAuto is not described as a certified integration. The same three are summarized on Integrations.
Sample call
Until that recording is ready, the path is the one above: Riley answers, offers an opening Xtime actually has, writes the appointment in Xtime, and hands the caller to your desk when the request should not be booked on the call.
Human handoff
The BDC desk is your staff, in the same product as Riley and Casey. A caller who asks for a person is handed to that desk. A recall, a diagnostic, or an op code Xtime will not take is not announced as booked. The call goes to the desk, or Riley takes a number for a coordinator to confirm. Anything she could not finish waits in Leads to recover.
DealersThink is live at a 16-rooftop dealer group. The group’s name is not on this page.

FAQ
Does it book directly into Xtime, or just take a message?
Riley books, moves, and cancels appointments in Xtime through a certified Xtime integration. The appointment is written in Xtime. It is not left as a message for someone to type in later.
Does it work with CDK?
Yes. DealersThink has a certified CDK integration. It reads customer, vehicle, and repair-order history from CDK. When a service call comes in, caller lookup uses that history to show who is calling, which vehicles are on those repair orders, and what was done. BDC Customers searches the same history by name, phone, or vehicle. Riley books the appointment in Xtime. The CDK read does not write the appointment into CDK.
Are your integrations certified?
Yes. DealersThink has certified CDK and Xtime integrations. That certification was confirmed on October 17, 2026. The integration pages describe each one.
Do customers know they are talking to AI? Can they ask for a person?
A caller can ask for a person at any point, and Riley hands the call to the BDC desk. The desk is the store’s own staff. This page does not publish the exact words Riley uses to identify herself.
Is it TCPA-compliant? Are calls recorded?
This page does not publish a legal opinion on TCPA or on call recording. Ask on the demo and we will answer with language that has been reviewed for your stores. We will not guess at it here.
What does it cost?
Pricing depends on rooftops and products. Book a demo. This page does not list a price.
